inspiration

I recently scanned a bunch of pages from books I had checked out from the library, and noticed that all of the images I must have been interested have similar qualities. Inspiration is priceless.

From the book "Design and Form" Johannes Itten, 1975

"Thoughts on Design" Paul Rand 1970

"Material Matters" Brenda Schmahmann, 2000
(these Weya appliqué's are a treat to look at!)

"The Modernist Textile, Europe and America 1890-1940" Virginia Gardner Troy, 2006
(this first surrealist textile is great--made by Fannie B. Shaw called "Prosperity is Just Around the Corner"

Maier

This is exciting!! Her work is absolutely charming and I am instantly drawn to her subjects. Vivian Maier's lost photos.

July

Loved her wit and uniqueness back when I saw her first, and now that I've seen her second feature, well, she's still got it. Miranda July.

Haven't seen her hubby, Mike Mill's newest feature yet, which I want to, but I'm sure it's just as grand.

Aren't they cute?

trentemøller

Although I prefer the original, this music video is great. Been a fan of him for a while now--one of the first artists that really got me into electronic music.
